In 1990, in the atmosphere of the period after the revolution, Karel Gott recorded after a longer time an album with the greatest hits of folk music, mostly Czech songs. It's a great album, where you can feel a sort of pure feeling and you can almost feel the festive mood or the past times, 50 years back through the history, where the folk music was very popular. Though we miss Škoda lásky (Beer Barel Polka), which Karel Gott recorded several times before. But it's definitely an album which only of the folk music fans in Czech republic would buy, as well as the biggest of Karel Gott fans. That's probably the reason why Supraphone never has released a similar album and almost no Czech listener has ever heard Karel Gott singing folk songs. In German countries, this genre is still current, and not the music mostly only for grandmas and grandpas (as on Czech pop-music scene).
