At the end of 2005, a new album is released, this time including new versions of hits, which Karel Svoboda, our most successful music compositor, has composed for Karel Gott during 1968-1998. The songs are "cover versions" of the hits, remakes in modern arangement and with modern sound, which do not even miss techno-style. The complete album is in the same spirit as Stražný anděl, so much more intimate than the former cantilen songs, and thus more interesting.

Everyone who knows these songs and who listens to this album, will propably from the start, no matter what, remember the former recordings. But as time goes by, he will get used to these songs and the old memories will not feel disturbing anymore, he can even discover something, what one can not hear at the first listening. This first listening can surprise many listeners, especially if they expect coverversions of the songs sung in the same style. No Way. In one word, if you like "the good old recordings" and do not like modern sounds, you will propably get disappointed by this album. You will not hear any big old-fashioned cantilens. On contrary for those who were born later and do not know the old versions or do not really like them, the new versions may seem more understandible.

Especially the version of a song called Konec ptačích árií (The End of Bird Arias) - if you listen carefully, you can even hear the wings of a leaving bird at the end of this new record. It is not only a sad record, here it sounds almost tragically or morbid - as a soundtrack to a horror film - a performance worth a real Zombie. The techno sounds really great in faster tracks as Nápoj lásky č. 10, (Drink of Love No 10), Půlnoc v motelu Stop (Midnight at the Motel Stop) or even in Lady Carneval. Karel Gott and techno, it is really an interesting connection and we have to say that it is a pleasant, refreshing combination. One could say the versions on this album are very interesting and they could even lead to more dearing and thorough sound. Much more thorough rhytm, longer passages without vocals, especially in the song Lady Carneval, maybe adding some echoes.

It is a pity that the song Půlnoc v motelu Stop misses whole former lyrics, the whole song could have been longer than the former version, it would be worth releasing as a single. You hardly get to enjoy it, it already starts to end.. One more notice, the former name of the song "Z mé cigarety" (From My Cigarette) is "Z mé cigarety stoupá dým". If there were many more versions made in this style (as it is usual today), it would certainly be worth it...

No, co k tomu říct... Možná ani nemá význam vyjmenovávat a hodnotit jednotlivé nahrávky, protože tahle deska je špatná už svou filozofií a žádný klad nemá.
